FREMONT, Ohio – By Brian Liskai – While for most tracks September means the end of the racing season, Fremont Speedway is ramping things up!

September is the Month of Money at The Track That Action Built. It all kicks off Saturday, Sept. 7 on Tank’s Meats Presents Season Championship Night. The coveted Fremont Speedway titles are on the line for the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints; AAA Ohio Auto Club Dirt Trucks and the Computer Man Sports Compacts.

Going into championship night defending and two-time Fremont Speedway champion Craig Mintz has a slim 12 point lead in the 410 sprints over three time track champion Byron Reed who owns two wins at the track this year. Rookie D.J. Foos – certain to lock up the track’s rookie of the year honors – sits third only 21 points out while Chris Andrews, who has a win this year, is fourth only 22 markers back. Caleb Griffith, who has a victory at Fremont, is fifth, just 58 points away.

In the 305 sprints John Ivy’s two wins has him atop the standings. However, Nate Dussel is only three points out and has five wins this year. Jordan Ryan, who owns a victory, is third, 69 points back while Alvin Roepke is 90 points out in fourth and Dustin Dinan, who has three wins, is fifth 101 points back.

In the dirt trucks, John Ivy’s 6 wins has him 48 points over Shawn Valenti who owns a pair of victories. Dustin Keegan is third, 63 points out, while Dan Roepke Jr., who has a win, is 77 points back in fourth and Cory Ward, with a win, and is fifth, 92 markers back.

Amanda Shammo sits atop the compacts but her one win has her only four points ahead of Andrew Schroeder who also owns a victory. Defending champion Brandon Myers has 3 wins and is only 12 points out of first while Evan Patynko, who owns a victory, is 16 points out in fourth. McKenzie Biddle is fifth just 42 points out.

The following week has become a must-see event in the Midwest – the Jim Ford Classic featuring the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14.

On All Pro Cylinder Heads Night on Friday, the 305 sprints, dirt trucks and compacts are also in action. On JLH General Contractor Night on Saturday, the 50-lap feature for the UNOH All Stars will pay the winner $10,000! The 305 sprints and dirt trucks are also in action.

On Saturday there will be a live band in the campground following the racing. And prior to the action the 2014 Fremont Speedway Queens Contest will be held at 11 a.m. in the Hall of Fame Building.

There is a rain date for Saturday set for Sunday if needed.

Last year on the Friday night event, Bryan Sebetto got a late race exciting win over Dale Blaney, who has two All Star wins at Fremont this season and currently leads the series points as he eyes his fourth championship. On Saturday, four time UNOH All Star champion Tim Shaffer dominated the last half of the race to take home the $10,000 as 2012 track champion Craig Mintz stormed from 12th to a runner-up finish.

Then after a week off, Fremont Speedway brings an end to September with the greatest sprint car drivers in the world coming to challenge the tough local competition as the World of Outlaws STP series comes to town on Kistler Racing Products Night, Saturday, Sept. 28 for a $10,000-to-win affair. Two years ago when the World of Outlaws visited Fremont, California’s Jason Meyers took home the win over Kerry Madsen and Sebetto.

Fremont Speedway will wrap up the 2013 season on Saturday, Oct. 5 as Fort Ball Pizza Palace presents the Run What Ya Brung Night. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series non-wing invaders will be on hand. When the series visited Fremont in May, Robert Ballou took home the win over Levi Jones.
