Garrett Krummert wins first Diehl Mods feature
Russ King and Corey McPherson score Hat Tricks
Carl Bowser runs down Lynch, holds off Flick for second win
Sarver, PA (May 22, 2015) Garrett Krummert toiled in the Precise Late Models the past few seasons, but returned to his roots in the Diehl Mods this season and so far, tonight especially, it’s been a winning combination. Krummert benefitted from a mid-to-late race battle between early leader Rex King Sr. and Mat Williamson. Williamson and King made heavy contact on the back straightaway, sending King to the pits and damaging Williamson’s rear suspension. Krummert threw a wicked slide job in three & four to steal the lead and win away from Williamson. Prior to Krummert’s victory, Russ King thrilled the home crowd with his own late race slider to pass World of Outlaws star Chub Frank after having dispatched Firecracker Champion Darrell Lanigan a lap or so earlier. King’s victory is his Turner’s Leader Board topping third win of the season; a feat matched later in the night by Corey McPherson. Carl Bowser also employed some late race heroics of his own, running down Ed Lynch Jr. and holding off AJ Flick to notch his second Peoples TWP Sprint feature win of the season. As mentioned above, Corey McPherson beat the Pic-A-Part Sportsman field to the checkered flag for the third time this season, but like the other three drivers before him, McPherson had to run down the early leader, here Wayne Carbo, and then benefitted from a late race caution to steal the win from Carbo on a green-white-checkered restart.
