Port Royal – Gray’s Auto and Towing of Mifflintown has announced their title sponsorship of the 2013 late model division at Port Royal Speedway just as the first show of the season for the Gray’s Late Models is set to take to the track in this Saturday’s season opener.

In business since 1983, owners and proprietors Tim and Donna Gray are proud to rejoin the Port Royal Speedway fold of sponsors in their new title capacity.

“We have observed the last couple of years at Port Royal and each year is showing a change for the good,” says Donna Gray of the oval’s resurgence in recent seasons.

“They are going forward and any business could gain by doing advertising at the track.”

Located at 67 Gray’s Way in Mifflintown, Gray’s offers 24 hour towing, state inspections including enhanced inspections for reconstructed vehicles and they recently began performing computerized alignments for vehicles and tires.

The Gray’s Auto and Towing Late Models are the focus of several special events at the track in 2013 including twin 15s on June 29, a championship event on July 13 and the Butch Renninger Memorial on August 31, a Three State Flyers Series event.

The first special race for the late models comes up over the Memorial Day holiday weekend on May 25 as the track stages the Fallen Heroes Championships for both the late models and the sprint cars.

Gates for this Saturday’s season lidlifter open at 3 pm with racing slated for 5.

Along with the late models, 410 sprints and pro stocks are also on the program.

Dippery’s Evergreens of Reedsville will offer increased winner’s shares for the sprints and late models in the opener.

Sprint cars will race for $3,300 to win while late models will vie for $1,500 to win.  Features, set by draw, will be 25 laps and 20 laps, respectively with pro stocks going 15 laps in distance.

The March 30 season opener will be the debut of double file, “Delaware” style restarts for the super late models at Port Royal.

General admission is $15 for adults and $5 for students ages 12 – 18.
