Gregg Satterlee’s 2013 Season Comes to a Close After World Finals
Rochester Mills, PA (November 14, 2013) Gregg Satterlee completed his very successful 2013 season this past weekend with a 16th place finish at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, NC.
Satterlee’s impressive nine win 2013 season was highlighted by his two victories with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Gregg’s first WoO win came at Wisconsin’s Shawano Speedway on July 30 just weeks before his second win at Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway on August 31. ‘The two World of Outlaws’ wins were definitely the highlight of the year for us,’ Gregg said while reflecting on his season. ‘Winning the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek championship was also a pretty big deal for us.’ Satterlee used consistent finishes of two second’s, a third, and a win at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex to claim the speedweek championship. ‘The speedweek always has some of the best regional racers following it and for us to be able to finish the way we did against that type of competition shows how much our team has grown.’
Of Satterlee’s nine wins, seven of them were at different facilities. Gregg captured three wins at Winchester (VA) Speedway and single wins at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro, VA, Hagerstown (MD) Speedway, Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA, Selinsgrove (PA) Speedway, and Shawano (WI) Speedway.
Gregg expanded his schedule a bit in 2013 with trips to 13 different states and over 70 total events that included crown jewel events like the Dirt Late Model Dream and World 100 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH, the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA, the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI, the North/South 100 at Florence Speedway in Union, KY and the Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park.
‘To be able to go out and run a few more of the crown jewel events was a great learning experience for myself and our entire team, ‘Gregg said. ‘ We wish we could have run better in a few of them but to leave Lernerville with a fourth place finish and run second during one of the preliminary nights at Eldora was a huge confidence booster for us. A few of those tracks we had never seen before and we made the shows (Cedar Lake and Florence), we’re pretty happy about that.’
Satterlee finishes the 2013 racing season with nine wins, 25 top-five’s, and 37 top-ten’s in 72 total starts and finished a very respectable 17th in DirtonDirt.com’s Power Rankings in which over 30 media members and drivers along with track, series, and manufacturer representatives vote. ‘We’re pretty happy with our season for sure’ Gregg bottom-lined, ‘we did more traveling and won a few bigger races. We certainly can’t complain about our season, just disappointed that it had to end.’
Gregg and the Gregg Satterlee racing team will tentatively kick off their 2014 season during the Georgia/Florida Speedweeks in February of 2014. More details on Gregg’s 2014 plans will be announced when all schedules are released for the 2014 season.
