HERE, THERE & BACK AGAIN: Brian Brown earns top-tens at Knoxville Raceway and Port Royal Speedway; Knoxville on tap May 31
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 28, 2025) – After hearing Port Royal Speedway’s decision to up the Bob Weikert Memorial to $100,000-to-win, it was obvious Brian Brown wanted in on the action, and immediately following his top-five at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 24, Brian Brown Racing commenced their trek east to Port Royal, Pennsylvania.
Brown, ace of his own Brian Brown Racing, Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, Ditzfeld Transfer, Ditzfeld Container Service, No. 21 sprint car, completed the all nighter to not only earn a spot in the coveted Bob Weikert Memorial, but the wheelman out of Grain Valley, Missouri, and former Tuscarora 50 champion raced on to finish tenth, commencing action from the outside of row two.
It was Brown’s qualifying effort that set the tone, setting the third-fastest time in his respective group, racing on to finish fifth from sixth in his heat. Incidentally, just one night prior, Brown set “Quick Time” at Knoxville Raceway – he raced on to finish fourth in the evening’s A-Main.
“Overall, a great effort by the entire Casey’s | FVP team and a solid weekend,” Brian Brown was quick to note. “Obviously, things started out on Saturday at Knoxville. Rolled out of the box by setting quick time then raced from sixth to third in the heat. Ended up running fourth in the feature. Felt maybe we were a third-place car, but not sure we were going to be able to do much with the two guys running up front.
“We made the decision midday Saturday to make the 15-hour trip overnight to Port Royal Speedway to participate in the Bob Weikert Memorial,” Brown added. “We left Knoxville Raceway at about 9:40 p.m. and got to Port Royal Speedway about 1 p.m. on Sunday. Hats off to Chad, JB, and Devin for wanting to pull that off. Obviously as a driver I wanted to be there to participate, but the whole team needs to be onboard with that decision. They were pumped to go. Ended up third quick and racing from sixth to fifth in the heat…got ourselves in a pretty solid position to go for the $100,000. Didn’t get the start that we wanted initially. Felt like we were a fifth or sixth-place car, but things didn’t pan out how we wanted it.
“Very appreciative of all of our partners. They allow us the opportunity to change our schedule at the drop of a hat and they’ve always supported those decisions. Pretty special to race at two iconic tracks in the same weekend and have success at both. I like where we are as a team right now and everybody’s working very well together. Excited to get back to Knoxville on Saturday. We may pick up something on Friday, but Knoxville for certain. We’ll work to get another win.”
