CHICORA, Pa. (August 1, 2022) – Chicora, Pennsylvania’s George Hobaugh certainly knows his way around Sharon Speedway, and although forced to start midpack on Saturday evening, the ace of the Hobaugh Motorsports, Krill Recycling, Laskowski Plumbing, Ridgeview Security, Hobaugh’s Auto Parts, Hobo Storage, No. 40 sprint car put on a show, climbing his way forward from ninth to secure the $3,000 payday. The victory raises Hobaugh’s season total to two, earning his fist in a visit to Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in late May.
Hobaugh made his winning move with just four laps remaining, scooting by teammate and fellow Western Pennsylvania wheelman, Carl Bowser, with a slider through turns one and two. Johnstown’s Dan Shetler did his best to steal the spotlight on the final circuit, but Hobaugh held strong.
“What a night for this team. I didn’t think we had a chance from ninth, but we just kept working our way forward and the rest is history,” Hobaugh explained, now a three-time winner at Sharon Speedway. “The caution just after halfway really helped with our progress. It really doesn’t matter who is racing at Sharon…Outlaws, All Stars, locals…it always puts on a great show and we love racing here.”
