3/17/13-Mechanicsburg – The 2013 season opener at Williams Grove Speedway is set for Friday night, March 22 at 7:30 pm when the Lawrence Chevrolet Sprint Cars and the Tool Shed of America 358 sprints take to the track.

A full program of heat races and features for each division is on the agenda.

Reigning Williams Grove Speedway 410 sprint track champion Greg Hodnett of Gettysburg has a pair of opening day wins to his credit, in both 2002 and 2004.

Hodnett will return to Williams Grove for the first green flag of the 2013 season when it drops.
The driver of the John Trone No. 39 sprinter, Hodnett recently offered his thoughts on what the unrivaled competition at Williams Grove Speedway means to any driver’s career.

“You want to do well at Williams Grove because that makes or breaks your season,” the 43-year old pilot says.

“Everyone has to race against one another at Williams Grove because it’s not a divided field.”

“When you have the caliber of fields here locally, when you’ve done well at Williams Grove you’ve had a pretty good year.”

Hodnett and the rest of the Pennsylvania Posse will be trying to start out a good year at the season opener.

Qualifying heat races are slated to get underway at 7:30 on March 22.

Opening ceremonies will be performed by the US Army Color Guard.

Hodnett is the defending 410 sprint car track champion along with Pat Cannon in the 358 sprint division.

Danny Dietrich and Pat Cannon took opening day victories in 2012.

The Williams Grove Saturday Series season opener is slated for April 20 at 6:30 pm, featuring super sportsman, 358 late models and street stocks.
