BUTLER, Pa. (September 9, 2024) – It was a busy weekend in the Land of Lincoln for Cullen Hutchison and Hutchison Motorsports, making their family team debut in the Keith Kunz Motorsports Challenge at Coles County Speedway in Mattoon, Illinois, on Thursday through Saturday, September 5-7. And although the 12-year-old out of Butler, Pennsylvania, was just short of attaining an A-Main start in the weekend finale, his stats leading up to Saturday were stacked to the brim, all of which highlighted with the fastest qualifying time in Thursday’s preliminary.
Nearly 60 entries made the call of the three-day blockbuster, many of which among the nation’s finest.
“Just an incredible weekend. I can’t thank Sam Johnson, my family, and all of our partners enough for their support. It’s been a goal of ours to have our own team. We have a lot that we want to accomplish and it all starts here,” Hutchison was quick to note. “As we’ve said before, Sam Johnson is the backbone of this entire team. He runs a great program and his Royal Chassis cars are of the highest quality. I can’t wait to see what we can do.”
As noted, Hutchison, ace of the Open Joist, E2 Apparel, Classic Ink USA, Sam Johnson Racing, Royal Chassis, Lockhart Raceway, No. 83 micro, was unable to achieve an A-Main starting spot in Saturday’s KKM Challenge, but for the Western Pennsylvania youngster, it was almost out of his control, forced to surrender his B-Main transfer position after contact with a slowing competitor sent him spinning; he was scored 10th with eight transferring to the big dance.

Cullen Hutchison and Hutchison Motorsports will continue their 2024 season with a visit to Southern Illinois Raceway in Marion, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday, September 13-14.
