BUTLER, Pa. (October 7, 2024) – It was a busy week across the South and Midwest for Butler, Pennsylvania’s Cullen Hutchison, not only entering action at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina, on Wednesday, October 2, but continuing on with the Dan Robinson Memorial doubleheader at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Illinois, on Friday and Saturday, October 4-5.
Three starts resulted in a pair of top-tens for the Western Pennsylvania youngster, piloting his Open Joist, E2 Apparel, Classic Ink USA, Sam Johnson Racing, Royal Chassis, Lockhart Raceway, No. 83 micro sprint to a tenth-place score at Millbridge on Wednesday, as well as a seventh-place outcome at Wayne County on Friday. Impressive enough, Friday’s performance was the result of a hard-fought battle from the back, starting the evening’s program from the outside of row eight.
Unfortunately, Hutchison’s potential was cut short in Saturday’s return to Wayne County Speedway for the Robinson Memorial finale, as incidental contact while battling for a podium spot ultimately led to an early retirement. Hutchison earned his way into the evening’s main event via runner-up finish from eighth in his respective heat race.
“First of all, hats off to Sam Johnson for another incredible week. His cars are top notch and we’re lucky to be working with him and Royal Chassis. We’re growing more and more comfortable and it’s really showing,” Cullen Hutchison was quick to mention. “Overall, a respectable week for our team. The speed was there and we’re all really excited about that. A tough outcome on Saturday. It was an avoidable situation, but those things happen and we’re ready to move forward.
“Congratulations to Cole Cabre for winning Saturday’s $5,000 at Wayne County,” Hutchison added. “He’s in one of Sam Johnson’s cars and to see him win is pretty special. It’s a win for everyone involved.”
ON DECK:
Cullen Hutchison will continue his 2024 season with a RUSH Sprint Cars start in Lernerville Speedway’s Steel City Stampede on Thursday through Saturday, October 10-12, followed by a visit to Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the KKM Giveback Classic on Wednesday through Saturday, October 16-19.
