I-80 Speedway Hosts NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Showdown on Sunday, June 9

Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (June 5, 2013) – To say that the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers are looking forward to returning to I-80 Speedway for the first time in a decade on Sunday for the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Showdown is a drastic understatement.

Chad Kemenah made a special stop two years ago at the high-banked track located just off the freeway. The gates were locked so he and a crewman climbed on top of his trailer to sneak a peak.

“I’ve never raced there, but that place looks like fun,” he said. “It looks like a really neat race track. You hear a lot of good stories. The whole place is good is what everybody says.”

The NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Showdown will be the first event for the premier sprint car series at I-80 Speedway since 2003.

“I think it’s one of the best sprint car tracks in the United States,” Joey Saldana said. “It’s definitely an awesome track, an awesome facility. I love the track. It’s one of those tracks you can run the bottom and the top. You get two grooves and it always seemed to produce good racing.”

Mark Kinser claimed the first four races at I-80 Speedway and owns a series-best five victories. Danny Lasoski is second on the list with a trio of wins, and Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell each have two triumphs.

“We had a lot of good runs there,” Swindell said. “It was always a good track to run on. It was a fairly fast track that you had to be right on your marks.”

The top three drivers in points – Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz and Paul McMahan – have yet to pick up a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win at I-80 Speedway.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it,” McMahan said. “There’s some real great race fans over there.”
