NEW CASTLE, Ind.—July 9, 2014— For sprint car drivers, Indiana Sprint Week, sanctioned by the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series is much than just a handful of races. It’s an annual pilgrimage across the highways and byways of the Hoosier state, competing at some of the most historic and sprint car-rich tracks in the country. Fans plan their vacation around the week-plus of races, which are contested at some of the raciest tracks in the entire country. Tracy Hines had race in Indiana Sprint Week for most of his career and he’ll be part of the seven-race mini-series again this season.

The 2014 edition of Indiana Sprint Week opens for Hines, who drives the Carolina Nut Company DRC, on Friday, July 11 at Gas City I-69 Speedway. The mini-series then heads to Kokomo Speedway for a full night of racing on Saturday, July 12. Indiana Sprint Week makes a stop at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Sunday, July 13.

Following two days off, action resumes at the Terre Haute Action Track on Wednesday, July 16. Next on the docket is a visit to Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville on Thursday, July 17. The penultimate round hits the track at Bloomington Speedway on Friday, July 18. The 2014 edition of Indiana Sprint Week comes to a close on Saturday, July 19 at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt.

“Indiana Sprint Week is certainly the busiest week of the year for us,” said Hines. “We put in a lot of work in at the shop in the weeks leading up to it, so that we are prepared. You always hope that things go smoothly and you are able to use one car, but you have to always be ready in case something does happen to your primary car. We feel like we are in a good position with our program right now and are ready to get to the track and get after it.”

Hines was victorious at Gas City I-69 Speedway earlier this season with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series, charging from the 10th spot to take that win. Last year in the Sprint Week show at the quarter-mile, the veteran driver finished 20th. In his career at Gas City, Hines has three-career wins with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series.

The native of New Castle, Indiana, has made a couple of starts at Kokomo Speedway this season with the Honda USAC National Midget Series, earning a pair of top-five finishes. He finished 11th at the quarter-mile during the 2013 rendition of Indiana Sprint Week. Hines has one USAC National win at Kokomo, with that coming in a midget in 2000.

Hines has made one start at Lawrenceburg Speedway with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series this season, finishing 19th. In 2013 at the track during Indiana Sprint Week, he crossed the line 12th. Hines has won in the past with the Honda USAC National Midget Series at Lawrenceburg.

The 2002 Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series champion has raced twice at the Terre Haute Action track thus far in 2014. He finished eighth with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series at the half-mile in the Tony Hulman Classic in May, and was second with the Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Series. Hines was 22nd at Terre Haute last year during Sprint Week. He has three-career Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series win at Terre Haute.

Hines raced on the Fourth of July at Lincoln Park Speedway, earning an eighth-place finish at the five-sixthteenths-mile. Last year during Indiana Sprint Week, the versatile driver was 15th at the high-banked oval. Hines has two-career wins with the Honda USAC National Midget Series at the track.

During Indiana Midget Week, Hines finished 10th at Bloomington Speedway. Last year, he powered his way from the 23rd starting spot to finish 11th at the quarter-mile during Indiana Sprint Week. Hines was victorious in 2005 at Bloomington with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series.

Hines has made one start at Tri-State Speedway thus far in 2014, finishing 14th with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series. The Indiana Sprint Week race at Haubstadt last year was rained out. Hines was a winner at the quarter-mile bullring with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series in 2002.

“Most of the races during (Indiana) Sprint Week are on the smaller tracks, and we have been pretty good on the tighter tracks this year,” Hines said. “Running at Putnamville (Lincoln Park Speedway) last week was a good tune-up for this week and we were able to try a few things and learn a few things that should benefit us this week. Running seven races in nine nights is a grind, but as racers this is what we live for and the time of the year we want to really hit our stride.”

Last weekend, Hines made a trio of starts. He finished eighth at Lincoln Park Speedway in Indiana, with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series. He followed that up by finishing fifth and seventh in the Pepsi Nationals for the Honda USAC National Midget Series at Angell Park Speedway in Wisconsin.

Entering Indiana Sprint Week, Hines is sixth in points with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series. He has one win, along with 12 top-10 finishes, of which five are top-five performances.
