Jason Johnson, the Louisiana native and ASCS National Tour regular for the past number of seasons, completed the sweep this weekend with the ASCS National Tour at the Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Johnson took home the $6,000 Cottage Grove Sprint Car Nationals payday by fashion that consisted of passing Wayne Johnson in a late race move to win the 35 lapper. Johnson, who also won Friday night’s preliminary event at Cottage Grove with the country’s premiere national 360ci series, was locked into tonight’s 35 lapper; along with Roger Crockett, Wayne Johnson, and Johnny Herrera, because of their top 4 finishing positions at the conclusion of last night’s preliminary feature.
Wayne Johnson would hold on to finish second to Jason Johnson in the Cottage Grove Sprint Car Nationals finale, with Jeff Swindell, Tim Kaeding, and Roger Crockett completing the top 5. Shane Stewart, the Bixby, Oklahoma native, continues to lead the ASCS National Tour driver’s points standings over Johnny Herrera and Jeff Swindell.
