Ringgold, PA (April 21st, 2013) – Joe Martin of Ringgold, Pennsylvania spent his recent weekend ‘on the road’ racing with the crate late models of the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series; competing at one of the region’s most notorious and celebrated dirt ovals. Some of the finest crate late model teams in the Middle-Atlantic region were in action during the RUSH sanctioned weekend; giving Joe Martin, and the Joe Martin Motorsports (JM2 Motorsports) team, a true test of preparation and skill.

With Friday night, April 19th, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series action at the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania postponed to a later date due to inclement weather, the driver of the familiar JM2 Motorsports, Extreme Plastics Plus, Allegheny Crane Rental, George Washington Hotel, Spartan Thru Tubing, no. 55 crate late model would be forced to kick-start his weekend ‘on the road’ at the Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday, April 20th. The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series was on hand at the Maryland speedway for it’s first event of the 2013 season.

The visit to Hagerstown Speedway was a first for not only the newly formed RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series, but also for Joe Martin and JM2 Motorsports. The Saturday night program, which also featured the super late model stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, was highlighted with a 30-lap, $2,500-to-win main event for the RUSH crate late models. Joe Martin would qualify for the evening’s Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series main event, and be forced to start the 30-lapper from the outside of row number five. The former crate late model winner at Sharon Speedway (OH), Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (PA), and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (PA), just to name a few, charged five (5) positions on Saturday evening to finish the first Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series event of 2013 inside the top five. Martin would finish fifth (5th) officially in the running order at Hagerstown Speedway. Rick Singleton was the $2,500 victor. There were thirty-six (36) RUSH crate late models signed-in for action.

“It was a great experience” explained Joe Martin, “Not only did we get to make our first career start at Hagerstown, but we go to do it with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in town…getting to share a racetrack with those guys is like a dream come true.”

Joe Martin continued his weekend ‘on the road’ and returned to action earlier this evening, Sunday, April 21st, at the Allegheny County Speedway in Cumberland, Maryland. The RUSH Late Models sanctioned the $1,000-to-win ‘Weekly Series’ program at the mega half-mile located just south of the Pennsylvania/Maryland border near Cumberland, Maryland. Although the event was not under the official Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series banner, RUSH Late Model rules and format were inforced; making the event officially count towards the overall RUSH ‘Weekly Series’ championship. Joe Martin would pilot his JM2 Motorsports ‘55’ crate late model to a fourth (4th) place finish at the ultra-fast Allegheny County Speedway. The Ingram powered, Wylie Race Cars ‘55’ started the $1,000-to-win RUSH Late Models ‘weekly’ event from the inside of row number four. Rick Singleton would go two-for-two on the weekend and earn the RUSH victory at Allegheny County Speedway. There were fifteen (15) cars signed in for action on Sunday evening. This was the speedway’s first-ever crate late model program.

“We had a pretty solid weekend” said Joe Martin, “We learned a lot this weekend and we are pretty happy with how consistent we were…we took a lot of notes so hopefully we can go back to the shop and learn from everything…I can’t thank this team enough; from my family to my crew…everyone plays a huge part in making weekends like this one come alive; so thank you!”

The JM2 Motorsports ‘55’ team will be back in action next Saturday afternoon, April 27th, at the Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway near Imperial, Pennsylvania. ‘Dirt’s Monster Half Mile’ hosts ‘weekly’ RUSH Late Models competition each and every Saturday during the season; welcoming some of the area’s finest ‘weekly’ crate late model competition. Martin is a former winner at the big half-mile, and hopes to earn his first win of the 2013 season next Saturday night.
