Joe Martin pockets over $1250 as FASTRAK King of the Hill

Sarver, PA (October 25, 2012) Joe Martin started the DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede weekend with a big win over FASTRAK Grand National Champion Max Blair in the finals round of the FASTRAK King of the Hill tournament.  The brain child of FASTRAK stars Josh Holtraver and Mike Pegher Jr., the King of the Hill paid over $2500 in cash prizes to the Final Four and contingency prizes to the other four drivers in the Great Eight.

Josh and Mike pounded the pavement, phone lines and pits tonight to make this a reality and add an exciting event to the start of the three-day mega show that looks to feature over 200 cars again across 10 divisions of racing.  Originally billed as a $1500-to-win event, once the generosity eclipsed the $2000 mark, Josh and Mike agreed to spread the wealth through the field.  The final four received cash prizes and the other drivers in the quarterfinals received contingency prizes.

King of the Hill sponsors included, but may not be limited too (and please forgive us if we omit anyone whom so generously donated and support the drivers of FASTRAK Northeast); King of the Hill sponsors include, but may not be limited to: D&T Autobody, Blackshear Racing Engines, Flinner Signs & Decals, Schaeffers Oil, All American Framers, Fannies Friends Pet Cremation Services, Pegher Painting, Zero Wraps, Knobeloch Heating & Cooling, Team Blair Racing, Will Thomas Motorsports, Schwartzmiller Ground Maintenance, Weaver Auto Sales, Rocket Chassis, Beatty Welding, Paper Service Company, High Gear Speed Shop, Alternative Power Sources, Russell King Racing, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic/Precise Racing Product, Jimmy Steigerwald, Triple S Auto Outlet, FASTRAK Northeast, Ingram Racing Engines, Race 1, Big Daddy’s Speed Shop, Eriez Speedway, Close Racing Supply, Spartan Tool, Weidner Heating and Air Conditioning, Chad Valone Racing, Garvin Scrap Metal, Stile Marine, Frankland Rearends, WR Cade Pavomh and Jackie West.

Martin pocketed $1250 and a $100 gift certificate from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic/Precise Racing Products, Max Blair took home $600 and a $50 gift certificate from Close Racing Supply, Mike Pegher won $400 for third and Ken Cherna scored $300 for fourth.  Mike Laughard received a $75 certificate from Frankland Rearend, Dennis Lunger will receive a set of Ruhlman Aluminum Lugnuts courtesy of Spartan Tools, Josh Holtgraver received a $50 gift certificate from Big Daddy’s Speed Shop and Kyle Zimmerman pocketed a $150 gift certificate from Race 1.  Mike Hite earned $50 the hard way by being the first driver knocked out of the King of the Hill tournament.  In fact, despite being scheduled to race Butch Lambert in the first duel, Hite slammed the wall in hot laps and was “knocked out” of the tournament by scratching from the event.

Before the King of the Hill, all 10 divisions took to the Action Track for rotating hot laps in preparation for tomorrow night’s heat races.

Pit gates, registration and tech inspection open at 3:00.  The grandstands open at 5:00 and racing starts at 7:00!  Friday Night’s program consists of heat race for all ten divisions followed by the post-race party at the Round Up tent starting at 10:30.

Saturday’s festivities start at 12:00 Noon with the “Kickin’ for Cowboy” Charity Kickball Game and racing is scheduled to begin at 6:00 with any necessary B-Mains, features for all 10 divisions and capped off by the Enduro 100.  For more information log in to Lernerville.com and click the Steel City Stampede link.
