‘The Man From Austintown’ will be in action on two separate evenings this Friday and Saturday, June 29-30, as Justin Whitesell prepares for a trip to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio later this evening, before making his usual Saturday night visit to Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Whitesell, a full-time competitor in the ‘Outlaw Sprint Warrior’ division at Mercer Raceway Park, will head to Wayne County Speedway this evening for a $500-to-win ‘305’ sprint car special event that will replace the ‘410’ sprinters on the evening program. With most of Ohio’s regular ‘410’ sprint car competitors out on the road with the All-Star Circuit of Champions for ‘Ohio Sprint Speedweek,’ this allowed Wayne County Speedway to invite the ‘305’ sprinters for a rare vist to the Orrville oval. Since 5.3 GM powered sprint cars and ‘305’ sprint cars make up the ‘Outlaw Sprint Warrior’ division at Mercer Raceway Park, the 5.3 GM competitors are also invited to Wayne County Speedway to compete in the $500-to-win program. Whitesell’s J&J Chassis is powered by a 5.3 liter GM.
“We are going to go out to Wayne County Speeway and have some fun” explained Justin Whitesell about the upcoming weekend, “We had some engine troubles last week that kind of put us behind in points at Mercer Raceway Park…but the engine is fresh and we are ready to get back to victory lane…hopefully at both stops this weekend!”
Whitesell will head back to Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, June 30th. The former winner at the Mercer 3/8’s mile oval in 2012 currently finds himself inside the top ten of the current ‘Outlaw Sprint Warrior’ standings entering Saturday evening’s ‘Patriot Night’ event. Whitesell held the top spot in the ‘Outlaw Sprint Warrior’ standings entering last Saturday’s double points program, but failed to make the feature lineup due to engine troubles. The Austintown, Ohio native now sits sixth in the current standings, just past the half-way mark in the 2012 season. The familiar orange and white ’17’ is 184 points behind Joe McEwen who leads the ‘OSW’ point’s chase.
