Justin Whittall goes double duty at Port Royal; Orange County URC start on deck

VINCENTOWN, N.J. (April 23, 2018) – Taking advantage of the opportunity to enter 410c.i. competition and 360c.i. competition on the same evening, Vincentown, New Jersey’s Justin Whittall did the Open Wheel Madness double on Saturday night at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, entering the United Racing Club (URC) portion of the evening program, as well as the 410c.i. portion of the program.

Whittall, who is a full-time United Racing Club competitor, earned main event starts during each of the contested programs at the “Speed Palace,” highlighting his evening with an 11th place finish during URC competition. A charge from row four to finish fourth during heat race action set the tone, eventually lining up tenth for the 25-lap main event.

“That was fun. I think we were a little better than where we finished, but we’ll take this and move forward,” Whittall explained, who finished 19th during the 410c.i. portion of the Port Royal program. “Port Royal Speedway is a place that requires a lot of momentum and a lot of corner speed, especially with a 360c.i. motor. We don’t have a lot of laps there, but we’ll get to where we need to be soon enough.”

Justin Whittall will continue his 2018 campaign with a United Racing Club start in the Empire State, set to follow the Series northeast to the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., on Saturday, April 28. Whittall is certainly no stranger to competition at the big half-mile, recording a podium performance at Orange County Fair Speedway in 2017. In fact, before equalling that performance at Carolina Speedway earlier this season, the podium run in Middletown was the best URC finish of his young career.

“We are pumped to get back to Orange County Fair Speedway,” Whittall continued, driver of the JW Motorsports/Atlantic Utility Trailer/Brotherton Brewing Company/Pioneer Auto Body/Worldwide Bearings/No. 67 sprinter. “I think we have the potential to finish higher than where we did last time. We’ll be confident heading into New York, so we’ll put that to good use.”
