Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway Set to Host NDRL Bluegrass Nationals in 2014

Phoeniz, Arizona (November 26, 2013) After being shuttered for nearly 3 years, the 3/8ths of a mile Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway located in Calvert City, Kentucky is set to roar back to life in March of 2014. Under the new ownership of two Kentucky businessmen, Ronnie Jones and Jim Hale, the track is ready to jump back into the national Dirt Late Model spotlight by hosting the fledgling National Dirt Racing League for a huge weekend of racing action. The NDRL’s Bluegrass Nationals will be another of the series’ signature events which will kick-off with an open practice on Thursday, March 27th followed by 2 full Super Late Model events on Friday and Saturday, March 28th and 29th at the Western Kentucky oval. Friday’s event will pay $7500 to win while Saturday’s finale will pay $12,500 to the race winner.

“We have been looking around at everything and talking with everyone as we go into this new adventure. When Kelley (Carlton – NDRL Director) came up and visited with us he answered all of our questions and helped us address some issues that didn’t even relate to their event. That was one of the things we liked. These guys are looking to build a relationship and a situation where we both help each other. We are really excited about bringing the NDRL to Kentucky and to all of our race fans. We are going to try to get a couple of events in beforehand to make sure we have all of our logistics and staffing needs in place. It is an ambitious event but we are ambitious so as long as we can get some good weather I believe we can get this thing going and make it big.” said Kentucky Lake co-owner Ronnie Jones.

“I could not be happier to be working with Ronnie and Jim. They are great guys and two very smart businessmen. We have already built a good relationship and we are ready to help them put Kentucky Lake back on the Dirt Late Model map. I really am excited to see everything that they have planned for Kentucky Lake. Ronnie and Jim have big plans and dreams for the place. They have such a nice facility and the location is excellent. They had a very nice gem when they bought the place and now they are putting the polish on it. I know I speak for John (Kennedy – NDRL Owner) when I say I am proud to have them as a part of 2014 family of racetracks.” said NDRL Series Director Kelley Carlton.
