Kokomo Speedway Hosts World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series on Wednesday, June 5
Inside Line Promotions – KOKOMO, Ind. (June 2, 2013) – It always special for World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers to race in their home state.
However, there are only a handful of opportunities for each of the full-time racers who compete in more than 90 events across the country from February to November. For 20-time series champion Steve Kinser, Kraig Kinser and Bill Rose, one of those opportunities for the Indianans is Wednesday at Kokomo Speedway.
“I don’t get too many opportunities to race in my home state anymore,” Kraig Kinser said. “I take every opportunity. It’s still Hoosier territory and I like defending it.”
Kinser, a native of Bloomington, led every lap but the first last year at the quarter-mile oval to notch his first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series victory of the season. It gave him his second win at Kokomo Speedway, making him one of only four drivers with multiple trips to Victory Lane.
His father, Steve Kinser, has earned a series-best six victories at the bullring, including the inaugural event in 1978.
Rose, a fellow Indiana native who hails from Plainfield, is still searching for his first career World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature win and it couldn’t come at a better track.
“I’ve raced Kokomo a bunch of times in winged and nonwing racing,” he said. “It’s definitely a fun track and since it’s close to home, it’d be extra special to run well there.”
