“Mad Max” earns top-ten during Lou Blaney Memorial at Sharon Speedway
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, Ohio (July 9, 2018) – “Mad Max” Stambaugh’s visit to Sharon Speedway for the 10th Annual Lou Blaney Memorial on Saturday evening ended positively, not only bettering most of the 41 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 entrants signed-in to do battle, but ending his night within the top-ten. Stambaugh, driver of the Wicked Cushion/Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/No. 5M sprint car, now owns two All Star top-ten finishes on the season with the first occurring during Attica Raceway Park’s Spring Nationals in mid-April.
Stambaugh earned his way into the $5,000-to-win, 10th Annual Lou Blaney Memorial main event by finishing third during his respective heat race, an effort that started on the outside of row three. With most utilizing the bottom groove, Stambaugh went to the top, blasting through half of the heat race field with momentum built on the topside of the speedway.
Continuing a passing trend that was established in his heat race, Stambaugh lined-up 15th on the feature grid by way of heat race finish, ultimately advancing five positions over the course of 30 circuits to clinch a tenth place finish.
“We had a lot of fun at Sharon Speedway. The Lou Blaney Memorial is a prestigious event and we were really happy to be a part of it. I owe it all to my supporters. They make trips like that possible,” Stambaugh explained, a two-time GLSS winner thus far in 2018. “We were able to find something that worked in the heat race. Every position counts, especially in the All Star format, so it was important that we gained as many positions as possible in the heat race. We were able to put together 30 solid laps in the feature and finish tenth. All in all, it was a fun weekend.”
Max Stambaugh’s upcoming plans have yet to be determined. If all goes according to plan, “Mad Max” will join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series for a pair of high profile programs at Attica Raceway Park and Eldora Speedway; the Brad Doty Classic and 35th Annual Kings Royal.
