‘Mad Max’ Stambaugh will join All Stars for New York triple-header on August 17-19
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, Ohio (August 14, 2018) – The month of August just got a whole lot busier for Elida, Ohio’s Max Stambaugh, as the former All Star Circuit of Champions full-timer is set to rejoin the Indiana-based series for a triple-header in the Empire State.
Stambaugh, driver of the Wicked Cushion/Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/No. 5M sprint car, will follow Tony Stewart’s All Stars to three tracks in three days, venturing throughout much of eastern New York in the process. Action will begin on Friday evening, August 17, with a visit to Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, followed by a stop at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown on Saturday, August 18. The three-day weekend will conclude at the highbanks of Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon on Sunday, August 19.
Although less frequent than years prior, ‘Mad Max’ has joined the All Star Circuit of Champions on multiple occasions in 2018, qualifying for five main events with a pair of top-ten finishes to show for. Certainly one of his season highlights, Stambaugh finished fourth during All Star competition at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park in late April, earning the outside-pole position for the 40-lap, Spring Nationals main event by way of dash victory. The Attica result was Stambaugh’s best All Star finish of the season thus far.
“I’m excited to get back out on the road with the All Star Circuit of Champions this weekend. I owe this opportunity to Wicked Cushion. They really stepped forward and made this trip possible. With Wicked Cushion headquartered in New York, we all felt it was necessary to travel that direction and spend the weekend with the All Star Circuit of Champions,” Max Stambaugh explained, a former All Star Rookie of the Year. “We wanted to race more All Star races this year, but we had to be a little more conservative with our schedule. Thanks to Matt Henninger and Wicked Cushion, we can get back out on the road and work toward an All Star victory.”
Despite his schedule being determined on a week-to-week basis, Stambaugh has been active in 2018 and will enter the New York All Star swing with two victories on the season, each earned during Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) competition – one win at Gas City (Ind.) Speedway and another at Crystal (Mich.) Motor Speedway. Stambaugh’s most recent All Star Circuit of Champions attempt resulted in a tenth place finish during Sharon Speedway’s Lou Blaney Memorial on July 7; there were 41 cars in attendance.
“We have a few things to finish up, but we are ready to go,” Stambaugh continued. “Hopefully we can earn three, solid finishes with the All Stars this weekend and give our fans and partners something to be proud of.”
