BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 16, 2021) – Forced to do things the hard way during his Knoxville Nationals attempt, the “Madman” Kerry Madsen drove his way through a shortened version of alphabet soup on Saturday night, eventually leading Madsen from seventh in the Last Chance Showdown to 11th in the Knoxville Nationals finale.

In total, Madsen, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, advanced 12 positions, finishing the 50-lap, $150,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale 11th in the running order while earning a $15,000 score.

Despite a tangle during Thursday’s preliminary main event that forced Madsen to retire to a 22nd-place finish, the Knoxville, Iowa, resident via New South Wales, Australia, still had enough overall points to earn a spot in Saturday’s Last Chance Showdown. Madsen started seventh and charged to second before the 22-lapper was complete, which ultimately led Madsen to row nine on Saturday’s A-Main grid.

Cole Macedo won the 22-lap B-Main that saw a three-way battle for the final transfer position. Madsen, Cory Eliason, Sheldon Haudenschild and Spencer Bayston came to the line together. Haudenschild finished in the final transfer, a mere- .008 of a second ahead of Bayston.

An upcoming schedule for Kerry Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has yet to be determined. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media, for continuing updates regarding Madsen’s Tony Stewart Racing schedule.
