Kerry Madsen A-Main Finish (Start): 3rd (2nd)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (October 25, 2021) – The “Madman” Kerry Madsen was well on his way to a fourth World of Outlaws victory of the 2021 season Friday night at Lakeside Speedway, that until a late-race caution with 26 laps complete negated Madsen’s seemingly inevitable triumph.

Like so many restarts prior, Madsen, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/TicketSmarter/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, did his best to outrun second-place running Gio Scelzi, but the Fresno, California-native was able to outwit Madsen and take command on lap 27, sliding the “Madman” in turn three before hanging on for a $10,000 share.

In the meantime, TSR teammate and ten-time World of Outlaws champion, Donny Schatz, was also applying some pressure, as he was next to sneak by Madsen before the finish.

There were additional cautions prior to lap 27, but all were not an issue for Madsen.

“It’s unfortunate for this Tony Stewart team,” Madsen admitted. “We had the best car and I had the opportunity to close it out, but just didn’t do it. Being disappointed with a third-place finish means you’re doing something right, though.”

Continuing action with the Greatest Show On Dirt, Madsen and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will head south for a Halloween weekend doubleheader at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 29, and Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday, October 30. After that, the 2021 season concludes with the NGK/NTK World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on November 4-6.
