Marks climbs the alphabet during National Open

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

MYERSTOWN, Pa. (October 1, 2018) – It was not an easy weekend for the ‘Myerstown Missile’ Brent Marks, forced to do things the hard way during  both nights of the 56th running of the Williams Grove Speedway National Open featuring the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Despite the tough luck and rough starts, Marks found a way to persevere, first charging 11 positions during main event action on Friday, all before running the alphabet on Saturday. All in all, Brent Marks gave his fans something to be proud of.

“It was a wild weekend, to say the least. I’m definitely used to having to dig myself out of a hole. I’m just not where I need to be with my qualifying effort. That puts us behind the eight ball early every night. We’ll get it figured out sooner or later,” Brent Marks explained, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/Buckwalter Trucking/No. 19 sprint car. “I can’t thank my team enough for how hard they work. For the better part of the last two years, it was just Jesse and I, but now we have another crew member and he has been a huge help. I’m blessed to be in the position that I am in.”

Brent Marks kicked off his 2018 National Open campaign with an impressive rally from 23rd to finish 12th during the preliminary main event on Friday, forced to start deep after finishing fifth during the program’s Last Chance Showdown (LCS).

Impressive enough, the situation on Saturday only got more challenging for the Myerstown, Pa, native, ultimately finishing second in the C-main to qualify for the Last Chance Showdown, soon bouncing ahead from 14th to finish fifth in the LCS, eventually ending his ‘alphabet soup’ performance with a 21st place finish during the evening’s $56,000-to-win, National Open main event. Similar to Friday, Marks was forced to compete in the evening’s C-main after not transferring through his respective heat race.

Brent Marks and Brent Marks Racing will continue their 2018 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series campaign with a one-night visit to the Empire State, anxious to visit Fulton Speedway in Fulton, N.Y., on Saturday, October 6. Marks will enter the Super DIRT Week program ninth in the Series standings on the strength of three victories including one during 4-Crown weekend at the famed-Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
