MYERSTOWN, Pa. (June 3, 2019) – It was an exciting weekend for Brent Marks in the Music City, not only competing in the first-ever Music City Outlaw Nationals with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, but the ‘Myerstown Missile’ left the dirt-configured Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway with back-to-back top-five finishes, nearly attaining his first Outlaws victory of the season during the $25,000-to-win finale on Saturday night.
Marks, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19 sprint car, finished fourth and second, respectively, during his visit to Nashville, actually leading Saturday’s finale before being overthrown by eventual winner, Shane Stewart, with just nine circuits remaining; Marks made contact with the outside retaining wall which altered his momentum.
In total, Marks led ten laps on Saturday evening, taking command over Shane Stewart for the first time on lap 11, then again on lap 13.
“It actually was a lot of fun,” Marks said in Nashville. “I thought the track was in real good shape there for the feature and made it racy for us. Sort of took a little bit of rubber there toward the end. It wasn’t like lock down rubber, so when you’re following lap cars around and keep hearing people behind you because obviously everybody is so close, you’ve got to try to outsmart them. Another good thing to do is put a lap car between them. That’s what I tried to do and just caught the wall the wrong way.”
Brent Marks will waste little time celebrating his Nashville podium, as the Myerstown, Pa., native will hit the road and continue his 2019 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a Tuesday night stop at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., followed by a two-day trek through North Dakota and Minnesota on Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8.
With his podium performance included, Brent Marks is now ninth in the current World of Outlaws championship standings.
