FOREST, Ohio (August 26, 2019) – Despite a rocky start to their Kokomo Speedway ‘Smackdown’ campaign, first experiencing engine trouble on Wednesday, flanked by a second consecutive evening of missing main event action on Thursday, and finally an 18th place finish during USAC National Sprint Car Series main event action on Friday, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports finally worked out the kinks and saved their best result for last.
Securing their fourth victory of the 2019 season, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports concluded their Kokomo Speedway ‘Smackdown’ visit with a Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) main event victory on Saturday, August 24; an end-result that launched from the outside of row seven. The impressive win, their third of the year during BOSS Series competition, now gives the Forest, Ohio-based operation a win at four different facilities in 2019, as well as in two different states.
“That was fun,” Matt Westfall explained, who owns victories at Atomic Speedway, Fremont Speedway, Limaland Motorsports Park, and now Kokomo Speedway in 2019. “This team never gave up. Ray Marshall believes in me and he believes in this team’s potential. The perseverance certainly paid off this weekend.”
“I’m very proud of this team. It wasn’t the easiest of weeks for us, but we pulled through and made it to the top when it counted the most,” Ray Marshall said, owner of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Crazy Lady Restaurant and Bar/Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, better known as the ‘Bumblebee Express. “We’ve had some ups and downs this year, but we certainly have had a lot more ups than downs. I’m happy for this team. Hopefully we can continue our winning ways in the future weeks.”
Plans for Labor Day weekend stand as uncertain for the time being. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online for continuing updates regarding Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports. If anything, the team will take a weekend off.
Definite future plans include visiting Gas City Speedway on September 6, followed by a stop at Montpelier for BOSS Series action on September 7.
