FOREST, Ohio (April 12, 2021) – Not deterred by their midpack grid position, Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports put it all together on Friday evening at Kokomo Speedway and rallied big for their first win of the season, ultimately exchanging a 13th-place starting position for a spot on the victory lane platform.

Westfall, pilot of the Ray Marshall-owned/Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, utilized the very bottom groove around Kokomo’s quarter-mile to work his way through the field, picking off spots one by one before securing the point over Robert Ballou and Cole Bodine. A series of cautions during the early segment of the main event kept the field entact; an early advantage for the former Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) champion.

The “Bumblebee Express” had intentions to make an appearance at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday, April 10, but Mother Nature interfered.

“It feels good to get that first win. They say the first win is always the hardest to get. We’ve had a lot of success at Kokomo over the years and it never gets old to win there,” Matt Westfall said, who earned a BOSS Series victory at Kokomo in 2020, as well as in 2019. “I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for the opportunity to drive his cars. He gives us the equipment necessary to be successful and that clearly shows.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with a three-pack in the Hoosier State, set to join the USAC National Sprint Cars at Bloomington Speedway and Paragon Speedway on Friday and Sunday, April 16 and 18, split with a BOSS Series start at Plymouth on Saturday, April 17.
