FOREST, Ohio (October 12, 2020) – It was a weekend to remember for Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports, not only securing their fourth victory of the 2020 season, but doing so in dominating fashion during Great Lakes Traditional Sprints (GLTS) competition at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan.
Westfall, driver of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Hempy Water/DPI Ink/No. 33M sprint car, acquired his weekend victory during the Roll the Dice Invitational opener on Friday night, October 9, and snagged a $1,500 payday in the process; Westfall and Ray Marshall’s second I-96 Speedway win since September 25. Impressive enough, Westfall swept the entire program, first setting the fastest time during qualifying time trials then winning his respective heat race.
Nearly sweeping the entire weekend, Westfall concluded his visit to I-96 for the Roll the Dice Invitational with a third-place performance on Saturday, forced to recover from an early incident that resulted in Westfall climbing from the tail to finish on the podium.
“What a weekend,” Westfall said, who owns victories at Gas City I-69 Speedway and Kokomo Speedway in addition to his pair at I-96 Speedway. “That was a lot of fun. We had some recent success at I-96, so we had a pretty solid notebook already built up around that place. We were fast right out of the box and that ended up being the theme for much of our weekend. I just can’t say enough about everyone involved, Ray Marshall included. He gives us what we need to be competitive and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of his race team.”
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2020 campaign with a pair of Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) starts in the Volunteer State, concluding the Series schedule at the Mountain View Raceway in Spring City, Tennessee, on Friday and Saturday, October 16-17. Certainly foreign territory, the trip to Tennessee will be a first for Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports in 2020.
