Matt Wheeler Memorial Highlights MCR This Saturday Night

E. Smethport, PA (June 26, 2014) The Pure Stocks will take center stage this Saturday night at the NDRL McKean County Raceway in E. Smethport. The Matt Wheeler Memorial will see the pure stocks run for a minimum of $250 to the winner in memory of the long time videographer from Olean. A Complete program for the super late models, RUSH crate late models, Close Racing Supply Modifieds, Highway Auto Stock Cars and the mini stocks. Race time is 7pm at the ultra fast fairgrounds oval.

David “Slowride” Scott of Garland led 22 of the first 25 laps last week to finish second in the feature event, which propelled him to the weekly point lead over Greg Oakes of Franklinville. Brent Rhebergen of Clymer sits third in points just eight markers ahead of Chris Hackett with Bob Dorman of Sinclairsville NY now in the fifth position. Ironically only Hackett is the only driver in the top five in points that has seen the VP racing fuels victory lane in 2014.

Chad Ruhlman has dominated the weekly RUSH crate late models at MCR in 2014. Ruhlman has picked up six of the eight wins so far this year. The Bemis Point NY racer has won four times from starting ninth in the field as he did last Saturday night when he swept around Eldred racer, Damien Bidwell enroute to his win. Bidwell sits second in points with his one lone win. Veteran, Ward Schell of Warren is third in points just eight marks ahead of Dave Shagla of Sugar Grove with Bobby Rohrer of Erie sits in fifth. Will Ruhlman pick up his seventh win this Saturday night or will someone else finally put a end to dominance of the #4s CJ Rayburn race car?

Olean’s, Randy Hall has returned to the top of the point chase in the Close Racing Supply Modified division. Hall has two wins on the season and sits six points ahead of Portville’s, Vic Vena. John Woodward of Franklinville sits third in points with his two wins and last weeks winner, Al Brewer has now jumped to fourth in the point chase. Brewer has been on a roll the past two weeks with a second and winning his first MCR win since 1992 last weekend is no doubt the hot car going into this weekends event. John Boardman of Jamestown sits in the fifth spot just two points ahead of Carl Ballinger.

The Highway Auto Stock Cars points has Kurt Stebbins of Wellsville on top with his two wins. Rich Wotjowicz of Limestone sits second in points and is still waiting his first win of the season. Opening night winner, Dennis Asel of Kane sits eight points ahead of Hinsdale’s Ted Mascho. Ryan Snyder of Emporium has quietly moved up into fifth in the point chase. Pittsfield’s Jeremy Williams sits seventh in the point chase with his three wins on the season.

Mitch Boylan of Mt Jewett has a comfortable 102 point lead over Holden Heinemann. Boylan picked up his fourth win of the year last Saturday night. Thomas Cupp of NorthEast, PA sits eight points behind Heinemann in third and just eight points ahead of Dave Lowe Jr. Kurt Babcock of Shinglehouse sits fifth in point chase.

The Pure stocks will be gunning for the Matt Wheeler Memorial this weekend and Roger Schweikart of Austin is the current point leader with his two wins. Defending champion, Joe Layfield of Bolivar sits in second in points with his two wins as well. Cliff Easton of Roulette sits in third just ten points ahead of Donnie Williams of Portville and Dennis Cummings of Wellsville sits in fifth in the point chase just a mere four points behind Williams.
