Max Stambaugh capitalizes on off-week; earns back-to-back top-five finishes in Michigan

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

ELIDA, OH (May 8, 2017) – With his Arctic Cat All Star obligations erased due to wet weather and cold temperatures invading Western Pennsylvania where the Series was scheduled to compete, “Mad Max” Stambaugh decided to take advantage of the situation and commute north from his Elida, Ohio, home into areas of Michigan for back-to-back nights of competition. The decision proved to be beneficial for the current Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year contender; earning two consecutive top-five finishes aboard his family-owned/Biggies Coast to Coast/No. 5M, each occurring under different sanctioning bodies at different facilities.

“It was pretty disappointing to lose both of our scheduled All Star shows, but luckily for us the Series made a decision on Thursday, so that gave us some time to weigh-out some options. I guess the decision to go race and not sit around worked out pretty well,” Max Stambaugh explained. “I can’t thank my dad and crew enough for their help and support this season. It’s always a lot of fun to go racing with those guys. It was nice to turn some laps at a few different race tracks. We’ll hopefully move that momentum forward.”

Max Stambaugh kicked-off his recent Michigan road trip with a visit to the I-96 Speedway near Lake Odessa on Friday, May 5, eventually finishing third against the 360 cubic inch Great Lakes Super Sprints. His weekend in The Wolverine State continued with Sprints On Dirt (SOD) competition at the Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal on Saturday, May 6. Stambaugh finished fourth during the “open” main event, edged at the final checkers by less than a second.

Plans for the upcoming weekend, Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, still stand as uncertain for Max Stambaugh. A final decision will be made later this week.

Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions competition will resume on Friday evening, May 19, with a visit to the Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana; the first of three events on the weekend schedule including a doubleheader in southern Wisconsin.
