Max Stambaugh earns back-to-back podium finishes during action at Sharon and Tri-City
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, Ohio (August 20, 2018) – Despite Mother Nature and truck problems erasing all hope of making the tow to New York to join the All Star Circuit of Champions, ‘Mad Max’ Stambaugh still made the best of his weekend and earned back-to-back podium performances during 410c.i. competition at Sharon Speedway and Tri-City Raceway Park.
Stambaugh, driver of the Wicked Cushion/Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/No. 5M sprint car, opened his weekend by joining the best of the FAST Series at Sharon Speedway on Saturday, August 18. The night ended positively for the former All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year, hanging on to finish third after starting second on the evening grid.
Although a multi-time visitor to Sharon Speedway, Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pa., was a new spot for ‘Mad Max.’ Despite the track being foreign, Stambaugh fit in perfectly, actually leading much of the 25-lap program before losing the top spot to eventual winner, Jack Sodeman, Jr., on lap 20. Stambaugh held on to finish second.
“That wasn’t what we had planned for the weekend, but we’ll take it and move forward. We wanted to spend the weekend with the All Stars in New York, but considering the weather issues, and our unexpected truck issues, those plans were shut down pretty quick,” Stambaugh explained. “I just want to thank Matt from Wicked Cushion again for taking a chance on me. I know he was disappointed we couldn’t make the tow to New York, but at least we got to race a few times this weekend.”
Max Stambaugh’s upcoming plans have yet to be determined. More news will be released in the coming days.
