ELIDA, OH (March 27, 2017) – For the first time in 2017, Max Stambaugh entered competition for Ray Marshall Motorsports, joining a competitive field at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the facility’s first event of the season on Friday, March 24. Stambaugh’s first night behind the wheel of the Buckeye Machine and Fabricators/Fastenal of Kenton/DPI Ink graphics/Hempy Water/Lima Powder Coating/Blue Room/Biggies Coast to Coast/Triple JJJ/Schaeffer’s Racing Oil/Dale’s Concrete/No. 33M proved to be a success, resulting in a top-five finish amongst 37 entries from all areas of the United States and Australia.

“What a night. I’m really excited for our race team,” Max Stambaugh explained. “We were on the ball all night at Attica. To have things go that well right from the drop of the gate, amongst a field of cars that strong, is really motivating. We qualified well which put us in a great position the rest of the night. I’m excited to see what we can do this weekend when we get back to work.”

“Mad Max” Stambaugh ignited the Attica Raceway Park season opener with the 14th fastest time overall during qualifying time trials. Stambaugh’s qualifying effort placed the Elida, Ohio, native on the front row of his heat race, ultimately winning the heat race which translated into a fourth row starting position for the 30-lap main event. “Mad Max” started eighth on the feature grid, climbing three positions to lock himself into a fifth place finish. The top-five performance is the first of the 2017 season for Stambaugh.

With the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions schedule not resuming until Saturday, April 8, Max Stambaugh and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2017 campaign with an Ohio doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1. Stambaugh will enter competition back at the Attica Raceway Park, followed by an appearance at the Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio.

“I can’t thank Ray Marshall and the entire Ray Marshall Motorsports team enough for this opportunity,” Stambaugh said, a Rookie of the Year contender with the Arctic Cat All Stars in 2017. “This is the start of a great season. One big benefit of our schedule last weekend and our schedule this weekend is we’ll be returning to these tracks soon with the All Stars. We learned a lot on Friday night at Attica, and I’m sure we’ll gather some great notes this Saturday at Atomic, so we’ll be sure to put those to good use when we return.”
