Max Stambaugh ready to battle All Stars at Attica and Wayne County
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, Ohio (April 16, 2018) – Although he will not be joining the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 on the road full-time like originally announced, “Mad Max” Stambaugh will still compete with the Tony Stewart-owned organization as often as possible including this Friday and Saturday during an Ohio doubleheader at Attica Raceway Park and Wayne County Speedway.
“It’s just not going to work out like we planned,” Stambaugh said regarding his season plans. “Originally, we planned to be a full-time All Star again in 2018, but some unforeseen circumstances will keep that from becoming a reality. We still plan to race with the All Stars as often as we can. With this now being a family deal for me, I have to be a little bit smarter with travel and scheduling. We’ll see how things go.”
Stambaugh, the 2017 All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year Award winner, will follow the traveling All Stars to Attica Raceway Park on Friday, April 20, for the rescheduled Core & Main Spring Nationals, followed by a visit to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville on Saturday, April 21.
Using the evening as a test session for the upcoming Spring Nationals, “Mad Max” joined the field at Attica Raceway Park for the track’s season opener on Friday, April 13. Racing head-to-head with nearly 50 entries, Stambaugh qualified for main event competition and finished 15th, earning his spot on the starting grid by finishing third during his respective heat race. Although not advancing through the field, starting 15th and finishing 15th, Stambaugh’s start allowed for positive insight, now better prepared for the upcoming All Star invasion.
“It wasn’t a bad night for our team. When you have that many cars show up, just making the show can be an accomplishment,” Stambaugh explained, driver of the Lima Cadillac Chevrolet/Biggies Coast to Coast/Schaeffer Racing Oil/No. 5M sprint car. “The plan is to use what we learned on Friday and put it to good use when we go back to Attica with the All Stars. I’m excited to see what we can do.”
