ELIDA, OH (June 12, 2017) – Max Stambaugh’s trip west with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions turned out to be a positive experience for the Rookie of the Year contender, earning three consecutive main event starts, one of which resulting in a top-ten performance, as well as a JE Pistons Dash appearance and a heat race victory. The Elida, Ohio, native, who is currently on top of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year title chase, highlighted his weekend road trip with a ninth place finish at the “World’s Fastest 1/5-Mile Clay Oval.”
“We had a lot of fun this weekend. This was a perfect transition into Ohio Sprint Speedweek,” Stambaugh explained, pilot of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./No. 33M. “We visited three tracks I’ve never seen before. To come out of that with three positive results is really motivating. I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for sticking behind me and allowing me to live out my dream. This has been the experience of a lifetime, for sure.”
Stambaugh finished 13th during A-main action on Friday evening, June 9, at Lincoln (IL) Speedway, directly followed by a ninth place finish at Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois, on Saturday, June 10; the smallest circuit on the 2017 Arctic Cat All Star schedule. “Mad Max” qualified for main event competition at the Macon, 1/5-mile oval by winning his respective heat race, outperforming former King of the West champion Carson Macedo.
Action in the Midwest concluded on Sunday evening, June 11, at the 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa, where Stambaugh qualified for his third main event of the weekend by finishing fourth during his respective heat race. “Mad Max” went on to finish 15th during the 30-lap feature program, battling late with fellow Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Spithaler and Knoxville Raceway competitor Austin McCarl.
Max Stambaugh and Ray Marshall Motorsports will now turn their attention toward the 35th edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket; eight events in nine days throughout all areas of Ohio, each awarding $5,000 top prizes. The grueling Speedweek schedule is set to ignite on Friday evening, June 16, at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. Stambaugh will enter Speedweek fifth in the Arctic Cat All Star championship standings.
