ELIDA, OH (April 25, 2017) – Max Stambaugh will continue his 2017 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Rookie of the Year campaign this Friday through Sunday with a Central Pennsylvania triple-header. Set to compete head-to-head with the notorious “Pennsylvania Posse,” Stambaugh will visit three different facilities during his weekend tour of The Keystone State, each classified as half-mile ovals, with all three awarding $5,000 top prizes.
Stambaugh, pilot of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine and Fabricators/Fastenal of Kenton/No. 33M, will join the Arctic Cat All Stars at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday, April 28; Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal on Saturday, April 29; and the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford on Sunday, April 30. It will be Stambaugh’s first-ever appearance at all three facilities.
“We’re pretty excited to get to Pennsylvania. We know what we are up against, but that doesn’t change our game plan,” Stambaugh explained, a former two-time NRA Sprint Invaders championship runner-up. “The biggest thing for us is not allowing ourselves to get frustrated. We’ll take things one step at a time, one day at a time, and just keep working to get faster.”
Max Stambaugh will enter the weekend currently tied for sixth in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions standings, as well as on top of the Rookie of the Year title chase. “Mad Max” has earned one top-ten finish thus far in 2017.
During recent Arctic Cat All Star competition, “Mad Max” finished 22nd at Wayne County Speedway on Saturday, April 22. The Elida, Ohio, native kicked-off the evening with the 16th fastest time during qualifying time times, but was unable to transfer through his respective heat race. After transferring through the evening’s B-main, Stambaugh was forced to start 22nd on the feature grid, and that is where he stayed. There were 44 cars entered for action.
With no Arctic Cat All Star commitments on Friday, April 21, Stambaugh and the Ray Marshall Motorsports team made the short trip to Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, to compete with the NRA “360” Sprint Invaders. Stambaugh finished sixth during the 25-lap program.
“We struggled some on Saturday at Wayne County Speedway. It was a little disappointing for us, but you have to take the bad with the good and move on,” Max Stambaugh said. “We’ll do whatever we can to get up front this weekend. I’m confident that we have the knowledge and the experience to make that happen. I can’t thank Ray Marshall and the entire team enough for this opportunity. I’m excited to see how the year unfolds.”
