McKean County Raceway Makes Changes to Weekly Program

East Smethport, PA (July 1, 2014) The NDRL McKean County Raceway management has decided beginning this Friday, July 4th to drop the weekly super late model division from its program. Due to the economic restraints of the region, the highly priced super late model division is no longer feasible as a weekly class at MCR.

The scheduled NDRL Northeast Late Model Series event and the NDRL Modified Series event have been removed from this weekend’s schedule. The USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial will still be ran this Friday night but now as a weekly RUSH Crate Late Model event seeing an increased purse for the crate teams. A complete FIVE STAR racing program will be in action featuring the RUSH Crate Late Models, Close Racing Supply Modifieds, Highway Auto Stock Cars, Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks

“We are sad to make this decision at MCR, stated track General Manager, Chris Zuver, but for MCR to stay financially viable and provide weekly entertainment for our fans and our competitors we had to make a very tough decision.” “There is no body that wants to see weekly super late model racing at MCR more than myself and John Kennedy, but reality, majority of the super late model teams are not local teams and travel a hour or more to come to MCR as there are only two super late model teams in McKean County and two in Cattaraugus county in neighboring New York. The super late models will return in the future as a special event class.

With that being said, this Friday night, MCR will be in action featuring the RUSH crate late models in the USMC Corporal Jason Dunham Memorial along with a full weekly program. MCR is looking at a new increased purse for the crate late model division. MCR has already looked into visiting sanctioned series to visit MCR in the second half of the year to be the headline division on certain nights of racing.

Race teams that competed last week will have their money waiting for them at the registration booth in the pits and all super late model teams will be receiving their monetary funds from June 28th event from MCR, General Manager, Chris Zuver in the very near future.

The FULL PULL PRODUCTIONS truck and tractor pull along with fireworks will still go on as planned on Saturday, July 5th at the race track. Friday night’s action begin at 7:30pm and Saturday’s tractor pull will start at 7pm.
