PLANO, Texas (November 4, 2019) – Despite his overall weekend results lacking an A-main appearance, T.J. Michael’s visit to Texas Motor Speedway for the annual Texas Sprint Car Nationals on October 31 & November 1 proved to be a worthwhile experience, ultimately facing-off against a star-studded field of sprint car racing talent comprised of 360 hotshots, as well as 410 aces.
Not only did Michael have the opportunity to compete against some of the best sprint car drivers in the world, he did so in front of a very familiar crowd.
“It definitely feels great to be back in Texas,” T.J. Michael said, a Plano, Texas-native who spends the majority of his racing calendar planted in Fremont, Ohio. “As you can imagine, having a race team headquartered in Ohio doesn’t leave a lot of opportunities to race in Texas, so when this event popped up on the schedule, we knew we were all in. Having the opportunity to race in front of my hometown friends and family creates a feeling like nothing else. Also, a number of our partners are from Texas, so that gave us the chance to promote their services in front of a more local audience.”
The pair of ASCS National Tour starts resulted in a pair of B-main appearances for Michael; he finished fifth during B-main competition on both nights. Forty cars were on hand for the Texas Sprint Car Nationals opener on Thursday, October 31, followed by a field of 39 for the finale on Friday, November 1.
The event was held in conjunction with the NASCAR visit to Texas Motor Speedway.
With Michael’s 2019 schedule now complete, the ‘Texas Traveler’ will begin the tedious process of rebuilding for 2020. As years prior, Michael will build his schedule as others become available, eventually unveiling his plans after the new year.
“We’ll take our time and get everything ready for next season,” Michael added. “Hopefully we have the opportunity to begin our year with some racing in the South. Only time will tell.”
