FREMONT, Ohio (May 17, 2021) – The “Texas Traveler” T.J. Michael put together an impressive rally during his visit to the Dirt Oval at Route 66 on Saturday evening, ultimately turning a disappointing situation into a Hard Charger Award.
Michael, a full-time ace with Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions, finished tenth during his visit to the Chicagoland venue, steering forward nine positions after starting 19th on the feature grid. Impressive enough, Michael had to do things the hard way and was forced to compete in the evening’s B-Main after not transferring through his respective heat race.
“It was a good night and I’m proud of my team. Anytime you can rally like that says a lot and it’s really rewarding. It just goes to show that we never give up,” Michael said, driver of the Advanced Architectural Stone, Crown Battery, Fremont Fence Company, Pro-Tech Services, Wood Heating and Air Conditioning, Kistler Racing Engines, Elite Wings, Big D’s Pizza, Viva Los Healthy, M&L Graphics, HP Striping and Seal Coating, No. 8M sprint car. “On most nights, it’s just me, AJ Havens – my crew chief – and my girlfriend. It’s all hands on deck and I appreciate all that they do for this team. I’m excited to see how next weekend unfolds. We get to run on some bullrings and those are always fun.”
Michael and Michael Motorsports will continue their 2021 campaign with another action-packed All Star slate, this time joining “America’s Series” for four straight nights of action during the inaugural All Stars Indiana Invasion presented by Rayce Rudeen Foundation. The four-race weekend, activating on Thursday, May 20, will feature a doubleheader at the all-new Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis on May 20-21, followed by a stop at Gas City I-69 Speedway on Saturday and Kokomo Speedway on Sunday. Sunday’s weekend finale, dubbed the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race, will award a $26,000 payday.
Michael will enter the weekend 11th in the All Star driver championship standings. In fact, Michael’s nine spot rally in Joliet gave the Plano, Texas-native his first mark in the All Star top-ten column this season.
