FREMONT, OH (July 18, 2017) – The “Texas Traveler” T.J. Michael will be more than busy during his upcoming weekend of competition, as the Plano, Texas, native prepares for three straight days of Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions action in Western Pennsylvania; a mini-schedule consisting of three events at three different facilities.
Dubbed the I-79 Summer Shootout, Michael’s upcoming weekend will kick-off on Friday night, July 21, with a trip to Eriez Speedway, followed by a visit to “Dirt’s Monster Half-Mile” at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 22, all capped off with an appearance at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, July 23. All three events will award $5,000 top prizes; an award Michael will attempt to earn for the first time in his young career.
“We’ve been working really hard, there is no doubt about that,” Michael explained, pilot of the Michael Motorsports/Advanced Cast Stone/Fremont Fence Company/Kear’s Speed Shop/Shell Shock/Hinchman Suits/Big D’s Pizza of Fremont and Clyde/Crown Battery/No. 8M. “We’ve been making a lot of progress and I’m starting to feel more and more comfortable in the car. They say the first win in the hardest to get; I believe it. To get that first All Star win would do wonders for our team. Regardless, we’ll head into Western Pennsylvania with a lot of confidence. I’m ready to go.”
Including recent results, Michael is currently sixth in the Arctic Cat All Star championship chase, earning 18 main event starts, as well as one top-ten finish. During Michael’s most recent start, the “Texas Traveler” joined the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the annual Brad Doty Classic at Attica (OH) Raceway Park. Unfortunately, Michael’s night ended in the C-main.
“Qualifying is important with (World of Outlaws),” Michael stated. “Unfortunately, we didn’t capitalize and it kinda put us in a little bit of a hole. It was still a great experience. Even on nights like that, we learn. That is most important.”
