June 17, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Pulaski, PA)…After a weekend off, the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series is ready to return to action this weekend (June 20-21) in a big fashion for the “Mid-Atlantic States Classic”. The Friday-Saturday swing at Potomac Speedway in Mechanicsville, Maryland and Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Virginia will feature the first ever Crate Late Model Tour events at each track.
The “Mid-Atlantic States Classic” will be one of the season’s biggest weekends with $2,500 to-win, $250 to-start each night! The Potomac and Winchester events will mark the richest Crate Late Model events ever held at each speedway with the Saturday Winchester show being the first ever Sweeney RUSH Tour event ever held in the state of Virginia!
“These will be exciting events for our Series,” acknowledged Emig. “Several racers from the Mid-Atlantic participated in our Sweeney Touring Series in 2013 so it’ll be nice for them to have two events closer to home. Our racers always enjoy going to new venues and now these will not only be new venues, but big events! The original discussion was $2,500 to-win on Friday night and $2,000 to-win on Saturday night, but track owner Greg Gunter decided to make both $2,500 to-win due to the excellent response they received since the announcement was made!”
The Crate Late Models were added to each track’s program in 2013, but in 2014 have been running under RUSH weekly-sanctioning. Both track have experienced dramatic increases in car counts. Potomac has averaged over 12 cars per night with 22 different competitors in their five events, while Winchester has averaged over 18 cars per night with 31 different competitors in their four events.
At Potomac, Ben Bowie and Jeff Pilkerton have each won a pair events, while Ralph Morgan, Jr. was the last victor. At Winchester, there have been four different winners in as many events including Chad McClellan, Rick Singleton, Rob Nichols, and Morgan.
Ironically, in Sweeney Tour action it’s been McClellan and Singleton as the two victors so far. McClellan won the opening event at Freedom Speedway on May 30 in the track’s first ever Tour event, while Singleton won the June 7 “Bill Hendren Memorial” at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.
McClellan of Stoystown, Pa. has just a two-point lead on Jason Rider, who has recorded a pair of top fives as well, in the Sweeney Tour standings. West Virginia teen, Ryan Montgomery, who finished runner-up in last year’s points, is third over New York’s John Waters and Maryland’s Cody Dawson. Interestingly enough, six different states are made up of the top seven in points as Ohio’s Eric Wilson is sixth followed by Singleton of Front Royal, Virginia!
The Bobby Lake Motorsports “Shock the Clock & Beat the Heat” Quick Cash program will be in effect each night. The fast qualifiers will receive $100 cash, while each heat race winner will earn $25!
The K&N “Cold Air Induction” Dash & Championship Series has been renewed and will begin this weekend! The Dash will determine the beginning of the feature lineup with $100 K&N certificate going to the winner, $50 K&N certificate for runner-up, and $25 cash for the third and fourth place finishers.
Also, Precise Racing Products will award a $100 gift card for the “Pedal Down” Hard Charger that passes the most cars in the feature both nights. The Brake Man “Tough Brake of the Night” will award three bottles of Xtreme6 Racing Brake Fluid valued at approximately $45 along with a certificate good for either $50 off of a purchase of $100 or more or 20% off any The Brake Man purchase.
Driven Racing Oil’s “Slick Move of the Night” winner will receive a bottle of Driven Racing Oil Race Wax, a can of Driven Racing Oil Speed Clean, and a certificate for $50 off a case of Driven XP Synthetic Racing Oil! TurboStart will give away a 16-volt racing battery valued at $252 to one lucky driver in a random draw of all competitors that attend the events this weekend.
Crate Innovations will present both the “Ignite” and “Performance Plus” Awards. The third place finisher on Friday night and the fourth place finisher on Saturday night will receive a carb spacer kit that includes one billet aluminum Accelerator-1, one upper and one lower spacer gasket, and four specifically designed washers used for installation, while the driver that finishes last on the lead lap each night will receive the Moroso Custom Fit Plug Wire Set, which are custom tailored for use with the Chevrolet Performance 602 and 604 circle track engines.
