NAPA Rumble in Michigan Leads World of Outlaws to I-96 Speedway this Saturday

Inside Line Promotions – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. – The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will invade I-96 Speedway this Saturday for the NAPA Rumble in Michigan.

It will mark the first of only two events in the state this season for the premier sprint car series and it will be the only time the “Salute to the King” tour will compete at the newly reconfigured track.

The tour honors 20-time series champion Steve Kinser as he is competing for one final World of Outlaws championship.

“I’ve always enjoyed going to I-96,” Kinser said. “There’s a lot of great race fans that don’t have to drive awhile for a World of Outlaws race.”

Located between Grand Rapids and Lansing, and a short drive from Detroit, I-96 Speedway has hosted a World of Outlaws race for eight straight seasons and 10 of the past 11 years.

Kinser has won three of those races during that span with four other drivers recording at least one victory, including last season’s winner Paul McMahan.

“We have a lot of family and friends up there,” he said.

Joey Saldana, who claimed the inaugural World of Outlaws race in 1995, is excited about returning to the area.

“It’s nice that we get to go up there and race,” he said.

Saldana is tied for the second-most series wins this season and he is second in the championship standings – only one point out of the lead.
