Recent All-Star Circuit of Champions winner and former winner at Lernerville Speedway, Brandon Matus, picked up a runner-up finish at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania Saturday evening, July 21st. The Wampum, Pennsylvania native and fourth generation sprint car driver finished second in the ‘410’ sprint car main event; one position shy of his earning his first career Mercer Raceway Park victory. Adam Kekich would hold off Matus in the closing laps.
Perhaps one of the most consistent drivers in Western Pennsylvania in 2012, Jack Sodeman Jr., continued with his streak of impressive performances this season by recording a third place finish Saturday night, July 21st, during the ‘410’ sprint car main event at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. Sodeman, who is a North Jackson, Ohio native, was on his way to winning the main event, before engine trouble took over the familiar 23JR. The recent Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series winner at Sharon Speedway would hold on for the final podium position.
Rimersburg, Pennsylvania native and Team Fully Injected veteran, Scott Priester, earned another top five performance by finishing fourth Saturday,July 21st, night at Mercer Raceway Park during the ‘410’ sprint car main event. Priester, who pilots the Dionise owned no. 15 on a weekly basis at the Mercer 3/8’s mile oval, is in the current track championship hunt at Mercer Raceway Park, and entered the evening second in the standings.
Brandon Spithaler, former winner at Mercer Raceway Park in a winged and non-wing sprint car, earned a fifth place finish Saturday night, July 21st, at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania during the ‘410’ sprint car main event. Spithaler has been on the road for much of the 2012 season with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series, but returned home this weekend to compete at his ‘home track.’
