Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway to Host NDRL Northeast Late Models and NDRL Modifieds

Pittsburgh, PA (January 15, 2014) Officials with the NDRL Northeast Late Models Series and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania are pleased to announce an agreement that will bring the NDRL Northeast and NDRL Modifieds to the famed ‘Dirt’s Monster Half Mile’ on Sunday, July 27 for the ‘Herb Scott Memorial’ and the ‘Red Miley Rumble’ on Saturday, August 16, 2014.

The first event will be the ‘Herb Scott Memorial’ on Saturday, July 27. The $5,000 to-win event will pay homage to the late Hall of Famer, Herb Scott who finished his illustrious racing career with a remarkable 520 feature wins from 1948 to 1979. Herb started racing in 1948 and he won his first feature that year at the New Kensington race track. His 500th feature victory came at Don Martin’s Lernerville Speedway on May 30, 1975 and he won the last feature, number 520 at Latrobe Speedway in 1979. The NDRL Modifieds will also be in action with $1,000 going to the winner.

Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway will then host the NDRL Northeast Late Models and the NDRL Modifieds for a second time on Saturday, August 16 for the Annual ‘Red Miley Rumble’ that will also pay the Late Model winner $5,000 and $1,000 to-win for the Modifieds. The ‘Red Miley Rumble’ honors the late pioneer in western Pennsylvania racing, Red Miley. Red started the Miley family racing team back in 1969 at the tender age of 16. After 20 years of racing with Brother Ben, Red started Miley Motor Sports with other Miley family members and leased out the famed Imperial oval. 1989 is when Miley Motor Sports took over Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, among other racing projects, all while Red continued to own Ben’s car and later became car owner for nephew and rising star Jared Miley of South Park, PA. Red lost his 18-month battle with melanoma in 2007.

‘We want to thank Matt Miley and the entire Miley Motorsports team at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway for bringing the NDRL in on multiple dates,’ NDRL President Jason Shank said, ‘we consider PPMS one of our home tracks and with the relationship we’ve built with Miley Motorsports, it’s been nothing but pleasurable for the entire NDRL team.’
