Big Money, Big Names, Big Night For Fans, Drivers & Honorees Dewease And Boop
Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will present the eighth version of the Living Legends Dream Race for 410 sprint cars this Saturday night, August 2 at 7 pm.
This year’s Dream Race honors former car owner Maynard Boop and driver Lance Dewease.
They along with former Boop drivers Lynn Paxton, Keith Kauffman, Ed Zirkle and Randy Wolfe in addition to former Dewease owners Al Hamilton, Pete Postupack, Joe Templin, Harry Earnest, Don Owens and Walt Dyer will sign autographs from 5 until 6 pm.
Also on hand will be Boop mechanics Dave Brown Sr. and Ralph Heintzelman Sr.
This year’s total purse eclipses $55,000 with payouts slated for twin 16-lap semi mains, a non-qualifiers main and the 35-lap Dream A Main itself.
A host of sprint car talent will be in competition at the race, gathering the best in the business from all across the region at Port Royal Speedway as no other track is hosting the powerful 410 sprints against the event.
Drivers entering the event will take a chance at winning their portion of over $3,000 in contingency cash that has been posted along with over $7,000 in contingency prizes that will be given away.
Last year, Perkasie’s Ryan Taylor muscled by leader Fred Rahmer on the second circuit of the Dream A Main to go on to collect a total of $11,580 on the night including lap money and semi feature payout.
In 2012, Blane Heimbach took home nearly $13,000 on his way to triumph in the event.
In 2011 Stevie Smith won the race when it was conducted as part of the Tuscarora 50 due to rain on the original date.
Chad Layton proved victorious in 2010 with other winners listed as Cody Darrah, 2009; Greg Hodnett, 2008; and Sean Michael aboard the Jim Nace No. 6 in 2007.
Gates for Saturday’s Living Legends Dream Race will open at 4 pm. The adult general admission price is $27 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for JUST $5.
Port Royal Speedway will team with Moon Shine Camo® to present Motorcycle Night at Port Royal Speedway coming up on Saturday, August 9 at 7 pm.
Courtesy of Moon Shine, those who drive their motorcycle to the night at the races will receive a coupon worth $5 off admission at the ticket window.
Special parking privileges inside the commercial building at the track will be afforded to all motorcyclists who arrive prior to 6:30 pm.
One $5 off coupon per cycle will be handed out to every motorcycle as it enters the commercial building before the 6:30 deadline.
Racing in the program will be the 410 sprints, super late models, 305 sprints and xtreme stocks.
It will also be Food Pantry Night at the track as it collects non-perishable food items for the Juniata Valley Food Pantry.
In addition, August 9 will be the final Camera & Autograph Night of the season at the track, featuring free admission to the pit area prior to the races with the purchase of a general admission ticket.
DMI will present a kids candy scramble on August 9 before returning to give free hot dogs to the first 250 paid general admissions on August 16.
