FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
7/15/12
The Summer Nationals for World of Outlaws sprint cars will take center stage at Williams Grove Speedway this weekend, July 20 and 21 at 7:30 pm.
The Williams Grove Saturday Night Series returns to action on July 28.
The World of Outlaws vs. Pennsylvania Posse showdown this week will be the second of the season at Williams Grove showcasing the traveling outlaws stars and the posse.
The first showdown of the season in May saw Fred Rahmer and Steve Kinser split action.
Friday’s program will include a 25-lap feature paying $8,000 to win while Saturday’s Summer Nationals finale will climax with a 30-lap main boasting a $20,000 winner’s share.
Last year in the prestigious event, the current Lawrence Chevrolet sprint point leader at Williams Grove, Greg Hodnett posted a victory in the Friday night portion of the program while eventual WoO champion Jason Meyers claimed the high-dollar finale.
This will be the 11th consecutive year that Williams Grove has held the “Summer Nationals,” having begun in 2002 when Hodnett claimed the big finale before doing it again in 2010.
Other Summer Nationals finale winners include: Donny Schatz, 2003, 2007, 2008; Danny Lasoski, 2004; Fred Rahmer, 2005; Daryn Pittman, 2006; and Cody Darrah, 2009.
Notably, Lasoski will be in the field for this year’s show, now the hired gun of the Zemco No. 1 sprint car.
The Williams Grove WoO program also marks the return to the track of hometown boys made good, outlaws drivers Cody Darrah of Red Lion and Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg.
Fireworks displays will be a part of both nights of the 2012 Summer Nationals.
