PPMS’s PENNational Set to Open Up $160,000+ NDRL Mid-Atlantic Swing
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (April 7, 2014) Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway is set to play host to the opening round of the National Dirt Racing League’s (NDRL) Mid-Atlantic Swing. PPMS will host the PENNational which will pay $10,000 to the winner of the 50-lap feature event with the NDRL. The Mid-Atlantic Swing is a 3-race cluster of events beginning this Thursday, April 10th at PPMS. The 3-race event boasts more than $160,000 of purse monies up for grabs. The Mid-Atlantic Swing will also have the NDRL stars traveling to Winchester (VA) Speedway on Friday, April 11th for the $10,000 to win Gunter’s Honey 50 and wrapping the weekend up on Saturday at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia with the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth.
Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will host the NDRL for the 2nd time since the John Kennedy owned series was founded in 2013. The 25th Annual Pittsburgher was a rousing success in October and PPMS and NDRL officials are excited about the prospects of the PENNational. “The Pittsburgher was a great event and we had an awesome crowd. We are very excited about bringing our events to the Pittsburgh area. There is a great fan base there and the track has been phenomenal. We are expecting quite a field of cars with some of the best talent from all around the country. We hope that everyone will support the event and allow us to keep bringing this level of racing to the area. We have enjoyed working with the Miley’s, they really care about their fans and we appreciate them for having us.” said NDRL Series Director Kelley Carlton.
The NDRL boasts an impressive list of expected drivers which includes NDRL regulars Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Don O’Neal, Kent Robinson, Billy Moyer, Jr., Chris Ferguson, John Blankenship, Max Blair, Bub McCool, Dennis Erb, Jr., William Thomas, Mason Zeigler, Steve Francis, 2013 NDRL King of Dirt Billy Moyer, Tim Fuller and Mike Benedum. Also expected to be in action are a host of national and regional drivers including Brandon Sheppard, Gregg Satterlee, Jared Miley, Rob Blair, Dan Stone, Keith Barbara, Colton Flinner and Steve Shaver.
PPMS’s PENNational will also see the NDRL Modifieds and the RUSH Weekly Crate Late Models in action. On Thursday the PPMS pit gates will open at 2 PM with Grandstand gates opening at 4 PM. The drivers’ meeting is slated for 6:15 PM and racing is scheduled to start at 7 PM. Grandstand tickets are $30 at the gate with children UNDER 10 FREE. Pit Passes are $40 at the gate.
