RURAL VALLEY, Pa. (August 13, 2024) – For seven-year-old Nora Greathouse, the will and the want to compete on two wheels is not just engraved in her DNA, it’s a passion she’s instilled on her own, not afraid to “race with the boys” on tight-quartered tracks and enduro circuits throughout the tri-state area. With no signs of slowing down, Greathouse, who rides for her family team headquartered in Rural Valley, Pennsylvania, her journey will continue with a busy August slate, first venturing to an area near her father’s hometown in a visit to Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, on Friday, August 16.

Dubbed the Dirt Bike Extravaganza, Tri-City’s two-wheeled program will welcome riders from all across the region – a great test session for the upcoming AWRCS event slated for August 24-25 in Sigel, Pennsylvania. Greathouse will compete in the 50CC division.

“She’s determined, that’s for sure. There’s not a lot that intimidates her,” Will Greathouse, Nora’s father and riding coach, expressed. “From the start, it was pretty obvious that this was the path she was going to take. She’s always shown a lot of interest in riding and going fast, so why not take the next step and allow her to race. It’s not an easy thing to do, especially for a young girl in a male dominated sport, but she loves it and her mother and I will do whatever it takes to give her the opportunity to race. It’s been a lot of fun so far.”

Like Tri-City’s Dirt Bike Extravaganza, the aforementioned AWRCS program will also attract many of the region’s finest, and perhaps beyond, as the Series hosts events in two states, Pennsylvania and Ohio, as well as a UTV-only rally in the Garden State.

AWRCS, whose schedule focuses primarily on vast outdoor circuits in wooded areas, boasts a ten-round agenda in 2024, and fortunately for Nora Greathouse, many of the AWRCS rounds are within relatively short driving distance of her Armstrong County home.

“We’re pretty lucky to have AWRCS right in our backyard. A lot of the races are pretty close to home, but we still pack the trailer and make a weekend out of it,” Will Greathouse added. “It’s a perfect stepping stone for Nora and she enjoys the events. With so many divisions represented, she can grow with the Series.”

ON DECK:
Nora Greathouse will continue her 2024 outdoor schedule with Tri-City Raceway Park’s Dirt Bike Extravaganza on Friday, August 16, followed by a trip to Sigel, Pennsylvania, for round eight (The Forest) of the AWRCS regional schedule on Saturday and Sunday, August 24-25.
