Fremont, Ohio (June 6th, 2015) – Accompanied by the annual ‘305’ sprint car ‘Race of Legends,’ round 8 of the 2015 Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title ‘410’ Championship Series presented by KS Sales & Service hit the dirt on Saturday night, June 6th at the Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio. When the dust settled, it was Chris Andrews finding the front stretch victory lane. It was his second win of the 2015 season during F.A.S.T. ‘410’ Championship Series competition, and his second at the Fremont Speedway. Andrews now joins Dean Jacobs and Cap Henry on the 2015 F.A.S.T. multi-win list, with all three drivers earning two F.A.S.T. ‘410’ Championship Series victories thus far this season.
Chris Andrews took command of the 30-lap, $2,500-to-win main event officially with 20 laps in the books; driving by Australian invader and race leader Jamie Veal and never looking back. The Sandusky, Ohio native started the main event on the inside of row two; surviving a complete restart, one caution and immense lapped traffic to hold on for the victory. Stuart Brubaker, who started fifth during the main event, rallied to finish second; followed by a ‘hard charging’ Byron Reed who finished third. The defending Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title ‘410’ Championship Series presented by KS Sales & Service title winner started 15th during the feature program. Jamie Veal would hang on for fourth, with Caleb Griffith rounding out the top-five.
Byron Reed earned the ‘Hard Charger’ award for a second consecutive evening. Unofficially, Reed will maintain the current Kistler Racing Products Fremont/Attica Sprint Title ‘410’ Championship Series presented by KS Sales & Service point lead heading into next weekend’s pair of events.
31 F.A.S.T. ‘410’ Championship Series sprint cars signed in for competition at the Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 6th. F.A.S.T. preliminary action kicked off with one-lap qualifying time trials, with Fairland, Indiana native Cale Thomas earning the fastest time of the night. Thomas’ official time was 12.690 seconds around the Fremont oval. Chris Andrews, Jamie Veal, Brian Lay, and Caleb Griffith rounded out the five fastest qualifiers. Four heat races were contested with Gary Taylor, Byron Reed, Cap Henry, and ‘410’ sprint car rookie Tyler Gunn each earning victories during their respective heat races.
The top six fastest qualifiers who transferred through their respective heat races each earned a F.A.S.T. dash starting position. Two-time F.A.S.T. ‘410’ Championship Series winner in 2015 Dean Jacobs won the evening’s dash; thus earning the pole position for the 30-lap main event. Cale Thomas would end all preliminary action by picking up the B-main win.
