KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 13, 2024) – Three main event starts in two days resulted in three consecutive top-fives for Aaron Reutzel and Ridge & Sons Racing, eventually highlighting their busy stretch in the Hawkeye State with a victory at the Sprint Car Capital of the World on Saturday, May 11. Reutzel, now a three-time feature winner in 2024, secured his $2,000 triumph in Knoxville Raceway’s 360 Sprint Car program, taking command on lap six and never looking back. Impressive enough, Reutzel’s winning move occurred in dramatic fashion, splitting Joe Beaver and Kade Higday with one move. The 360 Sprint Car victory was the tenth of Reutzel’s Knoxville Raceway career.
“I had a good run and it all played out good,” Reutzel, ace of Brian and Lisa Ridge’s Folkens Brothers Trucking, Don Long & STC, B And L Holdings, No. 87 sprint car, said. “The car got decent late, but I was struggling early. I couldn’t hit the bottom and fell back to fifth at one time. The car was good and the motor was great. It was a good bounce-back from last weekend’s tip over.”
Pulling another double-duty effort at Knoxville Raceway, Reutzel and Ridge & Sons Racing finished third in the 410 Sprint Car portion of the evening program, advancing two positions after starting fifth on the evening grid. It was a second consecutive podium for the Clute, Texas, native in the 410 Sprint Car division, opening Knoxville Raceway’s season with a victory one weekend prior.
Additional weekend stats include a fourth-place finish in Friday’s High Limit Racing program at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. “A-Aron” opened the evening’s $12,000-to-win showcase with the second-fastest qualifying time, racing on to finish third in his respective heat race followed by a runner-up performance in the High Limit Racing dash.
