ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 10, 2021) – Once again gracing the Greatest Show On Dirt with a two-car stable, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu, flanked by Wooster, Ohio’s Jac Haudenschild in his historic yellow No. 22, joined the World of Outlaws during the recent weekend, ultimately helping the Series make their return to the World’s Greatest Dirt Track for the first time in over a year. Dubbed #LetsRaceTwo, the Eldora Speedway doubleheader featured two, full World of Outlaws programs, eventually crammed into a single day due to weather forcing an inevitable postponement after qualifying on Friday.
Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Abreu Vineyards/Stadelhofer Construction/Wiser Agency/Self Made/Salty’s BBQ/No. 24 sprint car, qualified for each of the World of Outlaws A-Mains conducted at Eldora Speedway with the former Outlaw winner highlighting his weekend with a 15th-place score from row 12 during Saturday’s finale. Forced to earn his way into the big dance the hard way, Abreu finished fourth during the evening’s Last Chance Showdown, climbing ahead two sports after starting sixth on the grid.
Haudenschild, who also qualified for each of the #LetsRaceTwo features at Eldora Speedway, failed to find any luck on Saturday, as on-track mishaps forced Haudenschild’s retirement during each of the World of Outlaws main events; the “Wild Child” was scored 20th and 25th.
“It was great to get back to Eldora Speedway. We wanted something more from the weekend, but to get both cars in the show on both nights is pretty special, especially for Jac. He’ll have the chance to race at Eldora a few more times this year, but every lap at that place counts,” Rico Abreu said, a former Eldora All Star winner who is still chasing that first win of the season. “I think our team has the potential to do a lot of big things this year, but finding momentum has been the hardest part. We have a lot of racing ahead. We’ll get this Rowdy Energy car up front in no time.”
Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing have not disclosed official plans for the coming weekend. Fans are expected to keep alert online, as well as on social media, for continuing updates pertaining to Rico Abreu’s upcoming schedule. Initial conversation suggests a trip to Michigan and Illinois with the All Star Circuit of Champions. An official announcement will be made when it becomes available.
Tentatively, Jac Haudenschild is scheduled to return to his iconic No. 22 during Ohio Sprint Speedweek featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions.
