ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 9, 2022) – St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing have been busy, to say the least, over the last few weeks, following the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series across much of the Midwest in visits to Missouri, Indiana, and Tennessee, with an unsanctioned visit to Iowa in the process. Despite the intense travel and long hours, Abreu’s focus has not shifted, highlighting his recent stretch with a fourth-place performance in Bristol Motor Speedway’s $25,000-to-win Bristol Bash finale on Saturday, April 30.
Although stout in his appearance at Bristol, Abreu, ace of the Abreu Vineyards, Rowdy Energy, Curb Records, Stadelhofer Construction, Wiser Agency, Tony Toste Construction, Lucas Oil Products, ShopRico.com, Salty’s BBQ, No. 24 sprint car, was just as impressive during a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series visit to the highbanks of Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri, on Saturday, April 16, finishing sixth in the evening’s main event after starting seventh on the grid.
The Pevely top-ten did not come without perseverance, as Abreu was forced to battle back after contact with a fellow competitor halted all momentum. Abreu faded to ninth before recovering to sixth, actually applying pressure for fourth and fifth with ten to go.
Other highlights include finishing 14th – against a 43-car field – during a weekly program at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday, May 7. Forced to do things the hard way, Abreu earned his Knoxville feature starting position by way of B-Main, ultimately translating a 23rd starting spot into a 14th-place finish; Carson Macedo was the main event winner.
“I’m super proud of this team right now. Our schedule isn’t easy, but the guys hang tough and continue to perform to the best of their ability,” Rico Abreu said. “I’m excited to get this Rowdy Energy car back to Central Pennsylvania. The fans in Posse Country are unbelievable and I’m excited to have the chance to be reunited with everyone.”
ON DECK:
Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2022 campaign with a trip to Central Pennsylvania, joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and infamous Pennsylvania Posse during the invasion of Lincoln Speedway on May 11, and Williams Grove Speedway on May 13-14. Lincoln Speedway’s Gettysburg Clash will award a $10,000 payday, with Williams Grove’s annual Morgan Cup awarding $10,000 and $12,000, respectively. A $5,000 Morgan Cup bonus will also be awarded on Saturday.
